H is for Hagrid, Hermione, Harry....must stick with Harry.
I've already addressed Rowling's brilliance with characterization. Out of all of her characters, none is more perfect than Harry Potter. Harry is a classic rags-to-riches boy. He's the awkward average nobody that proves to be braver and smarter than even he thinks he is capable of. His strong sense of right vs wrong makes him a character everyone wants to root for. He makes us think we all have greatness (and magic) inside of us.
Love Harry Potter.
Totally agree, he is a masterpiece of a character. J. K. Rowling is so good at characterisation :)
ReplyDeleteI'm finding I'm wanting to read these again even though I don't really have time for it.
ReplyDeleteThe best characters in fiction seem to be those "average" people who end up doing extraordinary things. Thanks for this post.

ReplyDeleteSo agree. Harry (and Hermione) is awesome. Great choice for H.
ReplyDeleteI love Harry Potter and I LOVE Hermione. I think J.K. Rowling did an excellent job crafting characters so many readers could relate to.
ReplyDeleteI love how Harry jumps into dangerous situations without fully understanding them and through some great strokes of luck makes it out relatively unscathed. I need to read those books to my kids once we're done with Narnia.
ReplyDeleteWell said. I love Harry Potter too :)
ReplyDeleteWell said. (Okay, I really need to finally read this series!)
ReplyDeleteMy entire theme for the A to Z is Harry Potter! LOVE IT.
ReplyDeleteHarry is awesome, Half-blood prince will go down as one of my all time favorite books.
